I'm not super interested in a color wheel, but I would like the ability to provide Pantone Uncoated (or similar) colors.

I would inform users that the colors may appear differently than they do on their monitors.
To address this, I would include a checkbox where users can give their consent.
Additionally, I would offer a short tutorial explaining how users can properly configure their programs and mention the option to have a proof made at a print shop using the correct color profile to ensure the colors are accurate.
Ultimately, I would secure their agreement through the checkpoints.

Meik Horak thanks for the input! we may go down that route but it's far more complex to do in terms of logistics than adding a bunch of colors... so we'll be adding colors first, then consider offering this service
I also ran a poll on Discord and people were very much more into having a wider color choice

I can see how this could be risky, but even if there are photos of the final color available, those photos are going to be seen differently on different screens.
Personally, I would prefer having a color picker - I don't trust the color swatches or photos to be accurate anyway, so why not let me choose?

The issue I am having with this feature is that the color that comes out may be different, because of how it shows on screen, and I'm worried it may get some people disappointed.
For now all colors have keycap print photos so that sets expectations imo
Any thoughts?

Simon Tarchichi If you add a disclaimer below the color wheel, I think this is fine. I'd rather have more choice but the final product slightly differs than choosing an official color, and risking the same situation (who has a color graded display anyway?).

WiBla woah this is dangerous territory... I am keeping this feature as low priority for now as I need to figure out a way to make the color choice easier in general, this may be a solution, but we may find another too
